The MVWA also advises against using water that appears cloudy or discolored, especially hot water, since it will draw the water into the hot water tank, and customers will have to flush the tank once clear water becomes available.
Residents should also avoid washing clothes in discolored water, as it may contain sediments that could permanently stain laundry.
The New Hartford Public Library at 2 Library Lane will not open until 1 p.m. Thursday while crews working on repairing the water issue.
