ALBANY, NY - The Mohawk Valley region once again has the highest COVID-19 positivity rate in the state at 9.26%.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo says social gatherings spread the virus, and an increase in cases is a consequence of our actions.

The governor has a theory on the spike, which he laid out in his regular coronavirus briefing Monday morning:
“… anyone who got tested post-Christmas, over the weekend, was a person showing symptoms and thought they might be positive. Therefore they went for a test, so the sample is artificially skewed. Fewer people got tested and more of those people were showing symptoms, that’s why they went and got tested. The number of positive cases didn't go up. It's the number of people being tested, went down by almost half.”
Cuomo says officials are working with the medical community to increase hospital capacity in New York State.
