The Cancer Services Program will offer free mammograms, pap tests and pelvic exams Thursday, August 29.
The Mobile Screening Coach will be available from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m at the Dolgeville Village parking lot, for uninsured and underinsured men and women, age 40 and older. Colorectal Cancer screening take home kits will also be available for uninsured and underinsured men and women, age 50 and older. Men interested in the FIT kit can call the Cancer Services Program to enroll and a kit will be mailed to them. Eligibility can change depending on personal or family history, current symptoms or certain conditions.
The coach has a waiting area, exam room, lavatory and digital technology for mammography. If you are completing both breast and cervical cancer screenings, expect to spend an hour there. If you are only completing one cancer screening, expect to be there for half an hour.
If a screening result is positive the Cancer Services Program can pay for diagnostic testing. If cancer is then diagnosed and you are uninsured, the CSP can work with you to obtain treatment coverage through the Medicaid Cancer Treatment Program, or through other community assistance programs.
You can call 1-888-345-0225 to determine if you are eligible and to make an appointment.
