ALBANY, N.Y. – Applications are now being accepted for New York State’s COVID Rent Relief Program.
Households that qualify will receive a one-time rental subsidy, which will be sent directly to the landlord. People can apply for up to four months of rental assistance.
Applicants must have lost income since April 1 due to the coronavirus pandemic to qualify.
The state will accept applications for two weeks, and households with the greatest economic and social need will be prioritized. Decision will be made based on income, rent burden, percent of income lost and risk of homelessness.
