ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is warning that the city’s hospitals were two to three weeks away from running out of essential medical supplies as coronavirus cases keep growing rapidly in the city and state.
Meanwhile, Gov. Andrew Cuomo ordered businesses to keep at least 75% of their workers at home to fight the virus' spread.
But he says he is not going to impose martial law as he seeks to quell what he says is panic over the possibility of New York City residents being told to shelter in place.
By Thursday evening, there were over 5,200 cases in the state. At least 26 people have died.
