ROME, N.Y. – Napoli’s Italian Bakery in Utica donated about 50 tomato pies to provide lunch for the workers at the vaccination site at Griffiss International Airport Friday, to thank them for their hard work.
"We spoke with our friend Jerry Zenzillo, and he was more than happy to donate tomato pies and sausage rolls free of charge,” said Philip Corelli, a friend of the Zenzillo family, who own Napoli’s.
Corelli and Anthony Faccioli were enlisted by the bakery to deliver the pies Friday morning around 10 a.m.
“We are very dear friends with them, Philip Corelli and myself. And they asked us if we would just donate our time and drive it up there for them and we were more than happy to do it,” said Faccioli.
The delivery was a surprise to the everyone at the site, who spend their days ensuring operations run smoothly every day.
