More than 1,000 customers were without power in areas of New Hartford, New York Mills and Utica Thursday afternoon.
The outage was initially reported just before 1 p.m. Thursday.
National Grid spokesperson Virginia Limmiatis says the outage was caused by equipment failure on Chenango Road.
Power was out from Route 5 in New Hartford to Champlin Avenue near Utica College.
Service was restored to all affected customers by 3:30 p.m.
