Neighbors help occupants out of home during fire

Saturday night, fire crews responded to a fire at a home on West Thomas Street in Rome.

ROME- Saturday night, fire crews responded to a fire at a home on West Thomas Street in Rome.

Fire officials said there was heavy smoke when they got there. They also said police and neighbors were up on a ladder helping occupants out of a second story window.

A neighbor put most of the fire out with a fire extinguisher.

Two people were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
