UTICA, N.Y. - Pizza delivery drivers don't take the day off when it's cold and some actually get more business when the temperatures drop.

The manager of Charlie's Pizza says it is never too cold for pizza deliveries.

"We always deliver in the cold and usually it doesn't hinder us," Claudine Peters, manager of Charlie's Pizza said. "That's when we get the most deliveries actually."

There is only one thing that stops them from making deliveries.

"It's the snow that keeps our delivery drivers off the road, it's a safety issue so if it gets really, really bad we do pull them," Peters said. "The cold isn't really a big deal."

Peters says the drivers don't mind because colder temperatures usually mean better tips.

"My driver just said he got some really awesome tips the last cold spell we had," Peters said. "We are very accommodating because our customers are good to us too."

Keeping the food hot is an important part of pizza delivery, and it can stay hot for hours in an insulated pizza bag.

"They stay hot for a very long time," Peters said. "So in an essence, if you have to take four or five deliveries, by the time you get your pizza, it's still going to be warm."

Peters says the drivers are happy to deliver and the customers are happy to receive.

"They're happy to do it and people are definitely happy to receive it because no one likes to go out in the cold at all, we find that here," Peters said.

Charlie's Pizza is preparing for Superbowl Sunday, and good news for the drivers, it is going to be warmer.
