New Hartford, N.Y. - Over these next three weekends here in December, you can expect to see a lot of extra traffic on the roadways as shoppers will be out in full force.

A big reason why New Hartford Police want to get the word out to motorists to bring some patience with them as they head out to shop, especially along Commercial Drive.

New Hartford Police Sgt. Mike Kowalski urges people to just take their time and keep a safe distance from the cars in front of you, "Traffic is very heavy, a lot of stop and go traffic. Be weary of what's going around you, other cars, your speed and such."

Kowalski says there are some tips for you when you go from store to store of shopping center to shopping center, "Lock your packages in the car and in the trunk area where they're out of view. In the parking lot there are a lot of pedestrians, you want to make sure you're careful when you're backing up, and moving about, know what's going on."
