NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. - On March 9, 2018 at approximately 8 p.m. the New Hartford Police Department responded to a car pedestrian-motor vehicle accident on State Route 5.

New Hartford Police report that 58-year-old Martha Tschantre of New Hartford was walking home from a local restaurant and attempting to cross the roadway when she ran into the side of a vehicle traveling westbound on State Route 5.

Police say Cynthia Deep, 53, was driving a 2016 Chevy westbound when Tschantre ran into the driver's side of her vehicle. During the investigation, it was determined that Tschantre was intoxicated at the time of the crash and that alcohol may have played a factor in the crash.

Members of the New Hartford Fire Department and Edwards ambulance responded to the scene and transported Tscantre to St. Elizabeth’s hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As of Sunday evening, New Hartford Police have yet to announce if anyone will be ticketed for the crash.
