NEW HARTFORD, N.Y.- It was quite the sendoff for one local dentist who served the Mohawk Valley for a long time.
Thursday afternoon at Reaves Dental on Middle Settlement Road New Hartford, the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce held a sendoff for Dr. Glenn Reaves, who is retiring after 42 years on the job.
Dr. Reaves’ friends, current and former patients, and co-workers were on hand for the sendoff.
Dr. Reaves was presented with a plaque from the Chamber of Commerce.
He says there are lots of memories he will never forget.
“Through the wonderful friends that I have made, the people that I have been able to help over the years, and I have a wonderful staff.” Reaves said. “I have been very fortunate to have good caring people working for me, and it’s made going to work actually a pleasure. I enjoy going to work in the morning, and I don’t mind even staying late sometimes.” Reaves added.
Dr. Reaves is leaving the office in good hands. His son Dr. Justin Reaves is taking over and feels like this is a dream come true for him.
“He was the only dentist I ever had as a kid.” Justin said. “And then I decided I wanted to be a dentist when I was in high school.” “I slowly started learning the family business and then by the time I was ready to join him, it was nervous but exciting kind of like what it is now. And it’s been fun but sad to see him go.” Justin added.
There was even food on hand for attendees to enjoy at the sendoff.
Next week will be Dr. Reaves’ last week. Justin will take over the reigns of the Reaves Dental office in New Hartford on August 12th.
