NEW HARTFORD, NY – Approximately 30 to 40 people attended a lecture Monday presented by the Town of New Hartford Climate Smart Committee.
It was the second in a series of lectures focused on climate change.

The lecture took place at the New Hartford Public Library and featured a presentation by Dr. Aaron Strong, an Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies at Hamilton College.
Dr. Strong discussed the many different ways the public can adapt to climate change.
Something he says will be no easy task.
“Climate change is not an environmental problem. Dealing with climate change and avoiding the harm of climate change, is a problem that affects all elements of society. All of our economy. We want to make sure we have good jobs in the future. We want to make sure that we have resilient and sustainable communities that are happy, healthy and thriving. That’s not going to happen in a climate future unless we start reducing emissions and preparing for those impacts.”
The series on climate change consists of four lectures by different area professors.
The next lecture is scheduled for December 17th and will once again take place at the New Hartford Library.
