NEW HARTFORD – After a month-long investigation, New Hartford police have arrested Carmen F. Esper, 66, and charged him with one count of possessing a sexual performance by a child, an E felony.

Esper brought his computer to a New Hartford technology store to have his files transferred to a new computer. While verifying the file transfer, employees at the store found material containing what they believed to be child pornography on his computer, which they reported to police.

At that time both computers were taken by law enforcement for further investigation, where it was found that Esper did, in fact, possess images containing child pornography on his personal computer.

Esper was charged and processed at the New Hartford Police Department. He was arraigned in the Town of New Hartford Court and released pending a future return date.
