NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. – A New Hartford man has been charged with public lewdness after allegedly committing a lewd act in front of a window in his home on Sherrill Lane.
Police arrested 48-year-old Jeremy M. Kaler on Sept. 16 and charged him with public lewdness and criminal contempt.
Police received the complaint from a neighbor, who had an active order of protection against Kaler, two days prior to the arrest.
While Kaler was inside his home at the time of the incident, New York Penal Law 245 says public lewdness can still occur on private premises when the suspect can be readily observed from a public place or other private premises, and the intention was to be observed by others.
Kaler was released with an appearance ticket and will return to town court at a later date.
