WHITESBORO, N.Y. – A new café has opened in Whitesboro, specializing in gluten- and dairy-free items for people with allergies.
Owner Alyssa Williams’ son was diagnosed with more than 10 severe food allergies eight years ago, so she learned to cook to accommodate his needs. That’s when she realized, everyone should be able to enjoy food and sweet treats, regardless of dietary restrictions.
This led to the opening of City Café -- an eatery where everyone, with or without food allergies, can enjoy food and baked goods.
City Café offers food options free of gluten, dairy, eggs, nuts and more.
Williams says customers seem to enjoy the offerings.
“We've had great feedback so far, thankfully, we've had so many people come in every day and literally thank us for being here, which is amazing,” she said. “We've had people travel from outside of Syracuse to come and get our breads and baked goods and things like that. the feedback has been awesome, we're super excited about that.”
The café is located at 131 Oriskany Blvd., but is currently offering takeout only due to the pandemic.
