NEW YORK MILLS, N.Y. --- A New York Mills man is accused of assaulting a 67-year-old man during a home invasion on Thursday. State Police say New York Mills Police responded to reports of a home invasion at a home on Maple Street in the village.
Police say 31-year-old Zachary Wojcik of New York Mills broke into the home and then attacked the 67-year-old homeowner. Police said Wojcik caused injuries to the man's face and a severe laceration to the man's leg. Police said Wojcik then went to a home on Main Street in the village and assaulted a man barbecuing in his back yard.
He was taken into custody by New York Mills Police. The case was then turned over to the State Police Criminal Investigation Unit in Marcy.
The 67-year-old man was transported to St. Elizabeth's Hospital and then transferred to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse for further treatment.
Wojcik is charged with Burglary 1st degree, a class “B” felony, and Assault 3rd degree, a class “A” misdemeanor.
Wojcik was processed in the Oneida County Jail where he awaits centralized arraignment.
