UTICA, N.Y. -- Utica Police arrested a Newport man accused of stealing catalytic converters in Utica as well as a car. Utica Police said 48-year-old Scott Smith of Newport is charged with stealing a car back on Oct. 18 and illegally selling it for scrap. Police said he is also accused of stealing catalytic converters from cars on Jan. 18 and 21 on Hobart Street and Jefferson Avenue.
Police expect additional charges against Smith and other suspects to be charged as well.

Smith is charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and three counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief.
