DEERFIELD – Dan Williams from the Daniel Barden Mudfest joined NewsTalk Thursday afternoon to talk about the upcoming mud run in Deansboro.
The event will be Saturday, April 14 at MKJ Farm, located at 6844 W. Hughes Rd. in Deansboro.
The Daniel Barden Mudfest was founded in memory of Daniel Barden, a 7-year-old first grade student who was killed in the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut. The niece of one of the organizers of the event was inside the school that day, and while she escaped unharmed, her friend and neighbor Daniel Barden did not.
The 5-mile timed run is for people ages 13 and up, and it will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday with only one heat.
The 5K (3.1-mile) untimed run will begin at 10 a.m., with heats beginning every 15 minutes. That event is for people 11 years old and up.
The Kids Fun Run is for children five to 11 years old, and there will be three heats, at 11 a.m., 11:15 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
Registration for the Kids Run is $20, the untimed 5K is $70 and the timed 5 Mile is $80.
If you’re interested in participating in the event, you can still register in person on Friday, April 13 from 4-7 p.m. at the Clinton VFW, located at 49 Franklin Ave. in Clinton, or you can register beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday at the registration area. Registration can only be paid by cash or check.
