ILION, NY – The Ilion Little Theatre continues its 2018-2019 season with Horton Foote's award-winning drama, The Trip to Bountiful beginning Friday, February 1 at 7:30 p.m. and running for six performances over the course of two weekends.
This moving play tells the story of Carrie Watts, an elderly woman, who longs to escape the cramped Houston apartment where she lives with her protective son, Ludie, and her authoritarian daughter-in-law, Jessie Mae.Carrie wants to return to her beloved hometown of Bountiful, Texas, one final time before she dies. While Ludie is at work and Jessie Mae is at the drugstore, Carrie escapes to the bus station and befriends a young woman named Thelma. The new friends travel toward Bountiful together, but when Carrie arrives in nearby Harrison, Texas, she begins to learn that her beloved town isn't the same as she remembered it.
The play features Charlene Lyon, Kim Darling, Steve Wagner, Victoria Girmonde, George Lyon, Wayne Seifred, and Rebecca Mataya.
Directed by Stephen Kocuba, The Trip to Bountiful will continue the Little Theatre's 2018-2019 Season and is scheduled to take the stage February 1, 2, 8, and 9 at 7:30 p.m. along with two matinee performances February 3 and 10 at 2 p.m.
