Following the release of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office’s 2018 Ten Most Wanted list on Thursday, the first arrest has already been made.

Deputies say that after the list was released, the Sheriff’s Office received tips that 28-year-old Matthew Mackey, No. 6 on the list, may be in the city of Rome at a particular place and time. Mackey was wanted on a charge of second-degree burglary.

Around 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Mackey was spotted by members of the Sheriff’s Office’s Warrants Unit, and he was taken into custody without incident. Deputies say Mackey also commented that he had seen himself on the Ten Most Wanted list.

Mackey was brought to the Oneida County Jail where he was being held as he awaited arraignment in Oneida County Drug Court.

The Ten Most Wanted list is now down to eight suspects, as No. 5 on the list, 30-year-old Alan Myers, was arrested before the list was officially released.
