UTICA, N.Y. – Officials at Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute have decided to cancel the weeklong 2020 Arts Festival due to the coronavirus pandemic.
While the cancellation is for everyone’s health and safety, officials say having been closed for three months also hindered their ability to plan the events for the festival.
The annual event typically features the Sidewalk Art Show, live performances, children's activities, special tours, The Big Ol' Steamrollin' Print Invitational, and the Antique Car and Motorcycle Show.
"For 80 years, the Arts Festival has been a summertime tradition and a community celebration of the arts. The health and safety of our visitors and staff is our first priority, and a crowded public event would not be appropriate at this time. We look forward to returning next summer," said Munson-Williams President and CEO Anna D'Ambrosio.
The festival was originally scheduled for July 14 -19.
