With just 63 days until the winter games in PyeongChang and with cold weather arriving, many people are hoping to get out and begin their winter sports.
But for those looking for something a little different, you can stop by the Fennimore Art Museum in Cooperstown. The Dick Button Collection currently on display there is inspired by figure skating.
Button dominated the sport, winning Olympic medals in 1948 and 1952. On display are paintings, prints, stained glass, sculptures and metal art, and even other Oylmpians’ clothing.
It’s a one-of-a-kind display, smack dab in the middle of Cooperstown. The Dick Button Collection is perhaps the most complete skating collection in existence, and it’s on display at the museum until Dec. 31.
If you’re looking for some other things to do while you’re in Cooperstown, the Farmers Museum will be holding a candlelight evening from 3-7 p.m. on Saturday, which includes caroling, music and food.
Next weekend at the museum there will be performances of “A Christmas Carol.” For tickets and more information, visit farmersmuseum.org.
