UTICA, N.Y. (UPDATED) -- Police have released the name of the victim of Wednesday evening's deadly motorcycle crash.
According to Utica Police, 19-year-old Dakotah Wilson of Rome was killed in the crash.
Utica Police say two motorcycles were traveling south down Genesee Street just after 6:00 p.m. The driver of one of the motorcycles lost control and slid through the intersection at the Memorial Parkway, crashing into a white utility van and ending up underneath it.
The van was traveling on Parkway, passing through the intersection at the green light.
Utica Police arrived to find both motorcycles at the scene, but one of the drivers left. That driver is believed to have ended up at Rome Health with a broken leg.
The victim who was still at the scene of the crash, was immediately removed from underneath the van and rushed to St. Elizabeth Medical Center, where doctors and medical staff all tried performing life-saving measures. The victim later died from his injuries.
The intersection was shut down for hours Wednesday evening.
The Utica Police Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash. Police say they believe reckless driving occured prior to the crash.
