ONEIDA CASTLE, NY – Two parents were arrested Wednesday after police say they left their toddler unsupervised.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office says 31-year-old Michael DeCoste and 34-year-old Rebecca DeCoste have been charged with one count each of misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child. Deputies with the Child Advocacy Center say on August 25 they investigated a report of a two-year-old who was left unsupervised in front of their home on Seneca Ave. in Oneida Castle. Police say a community member witnessed the child alone in the front yard and called authorities after knocking on the front door and talking to the mother. A CAC deputy then responded to the scene and investigated the allegations.
Deputies say the DeCostes were each issued an appearance ticket and are scheduled to return to Vernon Town Court at a later date.
