ORISKANY, N.Y. - About two weeks ago, visitations at the Oneida County Jail were temporarily suspended to keep staff and inmates safe in response to the coronavirus pandemic, but there is still a way for inmates to see their loved ones.
Video visitation is available for inmates who want to see a family member or loved one.
"We actually had video visitation prior to the coronavirus issue that's going on now and it was very popular and very much used for families out of the area," Oneida County Sheriff Rob Maciol said. "We were able to utilize that technology because it's already been in place for quite sometime at the sheriff's office so that families would still be able to visit their family members or significant others while they are incarcerated at our correctional facility."
