Utica, N.Y. - Oneida County Republican Elections Commissioner Rose Grimaldi and Democratic Elections Commissioner Michael Galimo say they are ready for a very busy mid-term election day.
They say the last of the election bags, which contain all of the materials for the polling locations, were delivered to the last few polling locations here in Oneida County early Monday morning.
Grimaldi says it's been a busy day here on Monday ever since those bags were delivered, "We’ve been fielding a lot of calls. People have been calling asking where do I vote, am I registered to vote, I’ve moved, what is my new polling location. We’ve had people coming in to vote absentee over-the-counter. We have been calling poll sites to make sure that they’re open for 5 o’clock tomorrow morning. We've been speaking to our judges that are on call for tomorrow in case we have any issues or any court orders that my come down."
Grimaldi says all of the work to make sure election day goes smoothly is a year long process.
She says election day will be a very long day for all of the Board of Elections workers, "Tomorrow will be very long day for everyone. We usually get done between 11:00 and 11:30, go home for a few hours sleep then we're right back here the next morning."
The polls are open from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.. If you are unsure of where your to vote, all you have to do is type your name, your birth date, the county in which you live and your zip code and your polling location will pop up.
