The Oneida County Republican Committee is looking for qualified candidates to replace Rose Grimaldi as Board of Elections commissioner, after she resigned from the position on Wednesday.
Both Grimaldi and Democratic Commissioner Carolann Cardone stepped down this week amid calls to resign after serious errors within the BOE were uncovered during this past election.
Chairman Peter Sobel says the committee is accepting letters of interest through noon on Thursday, Feb. 25.
The commissioner will be responsible for recording and processing voters, conducting training sessions for election inspectors and tabulating election results. The commissioner also oversees a staff of deputy commissioners and clerical employees.
Applicants should have a knowledge of election laws and be able to manage and supervise other employees. The new commissioner will also be expected to maintain relationships with local leaders and party officials.
