ORISKANY, N.Y. – An inmate at Oneida County Correctional Facility is facing additional charges following a fight with a corrections officer at the jail.
Alex D. Tabor was in jail on criminal contempt and harassment charges from April. On June 23, a corrections officer tried to arrest Tabor in the jail regarding an incident that occurred inside the facility. This led to an altercation, and deputies were called to the scene.
Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol says Tabor tried to grab the officer’s Taser, but couldn’t get it out of the holster. Tabor also tried to bite the officer, but only caused damage to his uniform.
Following an investigation into the incident, Tabor was charged Tuesday with attempted criminal possession of a weapon and criminal mischief.
Tabor is already in custody, and will be arraigned on the new charges in CAP Court.
