UTICA, N.Y. – Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente reported four coronavirus deaths during his daily briefing Thursday, which is the most virus-related deaths the county has seen in one day.
Picente said three of the people who died were nursing home residents, and the fourth was a resident at the Central New York Psychiatric Center.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo said over the weekend that nursing homes are going to be required to test all employees twice per week.
Oneida County Director of Public Health Phyllis Ellis said the state sent letters to nursing homes on Wednesday, advising them that they must create and submit plans for employee testing.
There were also 19 new positive cases reported in the county, bringing the county overall total to 699, with 310 still active.
