UTICA, N.Y. – There were 67 new positive coronavirus cases reported in Oneida County on Monday, but according to County Executive Anthony Picente, a large portion of these infections came from a facility in Madison County.
Roughly 120 seasonal workers at a 70-acre greenhouse called Green Empire Farms have tested positive, and 52 of them are Oneida County residents. According to Picente, some of the seasonal workers may live on-site in shared areas. The county is currently in the process of tracing and notifying the contacts of the infected individuals.
He said there are still tests pending for employees at the greenhouse that could be infected. More details about these cases will be released Tuesday as more information becomes available.
There are currently 316 active positive cases in the county of the 530 reported overall.
Out of all tests, 3,098 have been negative.
There are currently 110 test results pending.
