UTICA, N.Y. – After a county-wide executive order was issued requiring people to wear face coverings in public places, Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente says cloth masks will be distributed to the public in Utica and Rome on Friday.
Community members can get masks from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the County Office Building, 800 Park Ave. in Utica, or at the social services building at 301 W. Dominick St. in Rome.
Picente says there is a limit of one package per individual or family.
In line with state guidance, face coverings are not required for people who have difficulty breathing due to medical conditions, or children under the age of 2.
During his press conference Wednesday, Picente announced another coronavirus-related death, bringing the total fatalities to 17.
There were 12 new positive cases, bringing the overall total to 400. Of those cases, 159 people have recovered, according to the county.
Out of the 3,067 people tested, there have been 2,478 negative test results since March.
