ONEIDA, N.Y. – Oneida residents lined up along Stephens Street Tuesday afternoon for a food giveaway from the city.
People were asked to remain in their cars with masks on, while their vehicles were loaded up with bread, peanut butter, and dairy products.
There were 1,550 loaves of bread, 2,500 pounds of peanut butter, and 1,500 cases of yogurt donated to hand out at the event.
Volunteers say the need is still prevalent.
“Yes, there's definitely a need in our area, we struggle without this so it's just nice to give back and we are very fortunate to still be working. Every family is getting at least one case of yogurt some bread, a thing of peanut butter a package of string cheese,” said Michelle Ironside Kinville, of Oneida.
The Oneida Fire Department also handed out hand sanitizer at the event.
