LENOX, N.Y. -- An Oneida woman has been charged with fraud.
According the the Madison County Sheriff's Office, 45-year-old Christie Elghandour filed an application for public assistance knowing that the information she provided was false.
They say Elghandour failed to report that she was living with her husband on the application, and that she knowingly committed the fraudulent act with the intent to defraud Madison County Department of Social Services.
Elghandour was charged with first-degree offering a false instrument for filing.
She was issued an appearance ticket and is due back in court January 8.
