ONEONTA, NY - Oneonta mayor Gary Herzig gave his State of the City address Tuesday evening.
The pre-recorded message was presented during the city's regularly scheduled common council zoom meeting.
In the address, the mayor said the state of the city is one of strength, resilience, and caring.
He stated how proud he was of the way Oneontans came together during the pandemic and was able to keep the infection rate there amongst the lowest in the state.
Mayor Herzig says the city's 'survive', then 'thrive' initiative helped to support local businesses with grants, outdoor dining, and shopping.
"When the doors open in 2021, Oneonta will be coming out of the gate running. The strong partnerships we have built between our business community, local government, our friends in Albany, our colleges, and our not-for-profits will serve us well. We have been busy putting together the pieces that will allow us to thrive in 2021 and beyond"
The mayor pointed out that the city is starting to see new signs and facades on downtown businesses and that they are working hard to bring affordable housing to downtown Oneonta as well.
