ONEONTA, NY - It's been eight months since the city of Oneonta’s last city manager - George Korthauer - resigned and the position has still not been filled.
At a special meeting Monday, members of the Oneonta common council met to discuss the matter. At issue, whether to keep the available position as a city manager, or change the title to a city administrator, which appears to be the direction the council is headed.
Mayor Gary Herzig pointed out there are a few different directions the council could go.
“This is the council's prerogative. The council can just change the word manager to administrator throughout the charter and everything stays the same as it is now. Or the council can take some time to rethink some of those responsibilities and make some changes."
In the end, the council decided to hold off making any decisions until they could further review the situation.
They will meet again next Monday.
