ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Oneonta fire crews responded to a fire at a home on Shaffer Avenue on Monday evening.
Interim Fire Chief Mike Mancini tells NEWSChannel 2 the call came in just before 7 p.m. The two people that lived in the home made it out safely. There is fire damage to one wall of the home and smoke damage throughout the home.
He said they are looking at an oudoor wood boiler that was close to the home as a possible cause of the fire but it is still under investigation at this point.
Parts of Chestnut Street were closed to traffic near the city's west end.
