Otsego County has reported an uptick in coronavirus rates over the past few weeks, with more new cases reported in the past week than the rest of the month combined.
The Otsego County Health Department says 12 new cases were reported since Friday, July 23, and only 8 for the first three weeks of July. There are 20 active cases currently, with no one hospitalized.
County health officials are urging residents to get vaccinated if eligible and continue to wear masks if unvaccinated. About 52% of Otsego County residents are fully vaccinated so far.
Oneida County has reported 28 cases over the past week, with 69 currently active across the county. There are five people in the hospital.
According to the Oneida County COVID-19 Dashboard, 57% of those 12 and older are fully vaccinated.
Herkimer County declined to provide updated statistics to NEWSChannel 2, saying they would come out Friday.
