VAN HORNESVILLE N.Y.- Wednesday evening was special in Van Hornesville, as the Seniors from Owen D. Young Central School were honored with a parade.
The parade started next to the School in Van Hornesville, and travelled through Jordanville, Paines Hollow, Starkville, and then ended back at the School.
The Seniors were escorted by the Van Hornesville Fire Department, and the Herkimer County Sheriff's Office.
This year was different for the ODY Class of 2020, as all their senior events were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
However, the ODY community still had something nice for this year's seniors.
"It's something nice for the Seniors to kind of experience, since we didn't get to do our picnic or our senior trip." said MacKenzie Daley, an ODY class of 2020 Senior.
"It's a little something for them. They've been cupped up, and they didn't get to have a prom, they didn't get to have a Senior Trip so let them have something!" said Owen D. Young Central School Superintendent Brennan Fahey.
There were 21 Seniors in Owen D. Young's class of 2020 that were honored in Wednesday's parade.
NEWSChannel 2 congratulates them, and wishes them the best of luck in their future.
