FRANKFORT, N.Y. - Multiple fire departments made their way through Center Road in Frankfort to honor one of their own who is suffering from polycystic kidney disease.
Dave Miller has served as fire chief for over three decades. He has polycystic kidney disease and needs a liver and kidney transplant. His sister, Cate Ricci, says he decided to stop treatment.
Wednesday evening Miller's fellow firefighters from all over the Mohawk Valley wanted to show how much they care by driving past his home with their sirens blaring.
"I think that the Frankfort Center Fire Department and all the other guys are terrific, they stood by Dave repeatedly, they helped him with appointments and going to dialysis, when his wife couldn't take him, they could take him," Ricci said. "My sister-in-law Pam has been just wonderful, she's bent over backwards to take care of him and I can't say enough about her."
Miller has been a staple in the community his whole life.
