UTICA, N.Y. ---Parents of Proctor graduates put together a ceremony for the graduating class of 2020. The school district originally celebrated its graduates by putting a picture slideshow on TV. However, parents believed students deserved more.
The Ceremony was held at the Burrstone Inn in Utica.
"It's very important, this is a huge milestone they'll never get this back. These kids have suffered so much since March. Being out of school they've gone through so much, they deserve this," said Moore.
Graduates and parents were asked to sign up for time slots. Once they arrived, students left their cars, picked up a face mask and walked the stage.
Parents were asked to stay in their cars to take pictures.
"I am a firm believer In just making the best of what you have to deal with. Hopefully, eventually, things open up so we can have a big graduation party for him even if it's in February of 2021. We're going to have a big bash as soon as they tell us we can," said Christopher Bivins.
Over one hundred graduates signed up for Sunday's ceremony.
