UTICA, N.Y. – The Parkway Center moved its Senior Health and Fitness Expo online this year, aligned with National Senior Health and Fitness Day on Wednesday.
The virtual event provided health and fitness information, including managing balance and fall prevention, Parkinson’s support groups, veterans’ services and Medicare planning. Volunteering opportunities and food safety were also discussed.
One health practice that was focused on during the stressful time of the pandemic, was meditation.
“If you've never tried meditation or if you have and you would like to have someone help guide you through sessions, this might be a great thing to try. You can see a list of all the benefits including lowering your stress level, which will make you healthier and happier,” said Debby Zampardi, wellness coordinator at the center.
