UTICA, N.Y. – A water main break has left parts of downtown Utica under a boil water advisory.
Mohawk Valley Water Authority has been working to repair the Hopper Street main since Sunday.
The following areas are under a boil water advisory:
- Genesee Street on the east side, odd addresses only, from 257 Genesee St. to Blandina Street.
- Hopper Street from Genesee Street to Union Street.
- Bank Place
The advisory will be in effect until at least Tuesday, or until the water is tested and determined to contaminant-free.
Water should be boiled for at least two minutes before drinking or cooking.
Residents are also reminded not to use cloudy or discolored water.
