UTICA, N.Y. -- It's Vietnam Veterans Day, and locally, people are making sure those veterans feel the gratitude they didn't feel when they returned from the war.
The Parkway Center, in Utica, held a pinning ceremony for Vietnam veterans Friday.
Local elected leaders came to help honor those who served. The veterans say what the gesture means to them, all these years later.
"Well, it still means a lot, because as you probably know, we weren’t' treated well when we came home so now it made a 360 degree, I think we're more appreciated now,” said Tom Buono, a vet.
Non-perishable food items were collected for the Veteran's Outreach Center at the ceremony.
