Blue and silver pinwheels are popping up around the region to spread awareness during Child Abuse Prevention Month.
As part of the national campaign, the Herkimer County Child Advocacy Center is selling the ‘Pinwheels for Prevention’ as a symbol of child abuse awareness. The pinwheels are also on display at the CAC on Main Street in Ilion.
YWCA of the Mohawk Valley CEO Dianne Stancato says each pinwheel represents one child the agency served in the year 2020.
"It reminds you that we are responsible for the little ones. All of us. Every single adult is responsible for the little ones, whether they're your little one or not. They depend on us to be their voice,” said Stancato.
So far this year, the YWCA has served 111 children in Herkimer County alone, according to Stancato.
