Pit bull abandoned at Stanwix Heights Fire Department, investigation underway

Surveillance shows a dark-colored sedan at about 12:38 a.m. Tuesday morning.

ROME, N.Y. – The Oneida County Sheriff's Office, along with the CNY SPCA, are investigating a case where a dog was left abandoned at the Stanwix Heights Fire Department sometime overnight.

The dog, is a 2 or 3-year-old female pit bull mix, and has been turned over to animal control.

Surveillance shows a dark-colored sedan at about 12:38 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Investigators say the person let the dog out of the car – then left heading toward Route 233.
