POLAND, N.Y. – Students at Poland Central School honored veterans Friday by reading poems and singing songs to express gratitude to those who’ve served.

The school principal, Greg Cuthbertson, says the school holds this event every year to remind students to show appreciation for veterans and what they’ve done for America.

"I think it's important for kids to understand what our servicemen and women have meant to our country and the sacrifices they've made for the freedoms and the privileges we have," said Cuthbertson.

The veterans were also provided food and a monetary donation to the Feed Our Vets organization.
