WKTV - Poland senior Thalia Pantoja had her final season of high school softball cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, yet the disappointment on missing out of her last hurrah in her primary sport isn't stopping her from pushing on.
Pantoja is staying close to home, committing Herkimer College after developing a close working relationship with head coach PJ Anadio through private lessons since the time she was 10.
A power-hitting third baseman, Pantoja has been on the Tornadoes varsity team since ninth grade and was a very consistent hitter, finishing with a batting average over .650 for both her sophomore and junior seasons.
Pantoja plays softball year-round, competing at the club level for the Utica Lady Comets in the fall and winter. At home, she has a batting tee where she practices hitting day and night.
In addition, she competed in winter track in the winter to stay in shape for softball season.
