Police ID Utica man killed in Higby Road crash

Police have identified the man who was killed in a one-car crash on Higby Road in New Hartford on Friday.

NEW HARTFORD – Police have identified the man who was killed in a one-car crash on Higby Road in New Hartford on Friday.

Police say 59-year-old Joseph Zutter of Utica was killed in the crash.

Around 9:25 p.m. Friday, New Hartford police responded to a report of a one-car crash in the area of Higby and Stonebridge roads. Police say Zutter was driving his 2012 Ford Fusion westbound on Higby Road near Stonebridge Road when his vehicle left the road, entered a culvert along the shoulder of the road and then overturned, causing Zutter to be ejected from the car.

Zutter died of his injuries sustained in the crash.

Police say they are continuing to investigate what caused Zutter’s car to leave the roadway.
