UTICA, N.Y. – Utica police were called to the 900 block of Schuyler Street on Sunday after a man was attacked with a machete during an altercation.
Officers arrived to the scene around 7:45 p.m., where they found the victim with a slash on his upper arm. The suspect, 37-year-old Gary Bryan, of Utica, allegedly swung the machete at the victim, striking him once.
The victim was rushed to the St. Elizabeth Medical Center, where he had to undergo emergency surgery. Police say the surgery was successful and the victim is not in life-threatening condition.
Bryan was charged with second-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
